I want to use a (5') 1.5" twisted poly rope to span fixed posts 55" apart. What will be the vertical droop?
1.5" Twisted Polypropylene Stanchion Ropes 2 to 10 Foot
I will probably need a custom order because the posts I will attach the rope to are fixed with vertical faces 55 inches apart. When considering a new eyelet on each post to receive the rope ends, the 55 inch span will be reduced by the eyelets. I understand that it's customary for a certain amount of droop in the rope. What is the formula for customizing the length of the rope when the exact span between posts is fixed? What do you recommend?

When determining the correct stanchion rope length for your outdoor stanchions and ropes, we recommend adding 12 inches to the opening. For a 55-inch wide opening, opt for a rope at least 67 inches long. Since this isn't a stock size for the 1.5" Twisted Polypropylene Stanchion Ropes ranging from 2 to 10 feet, you'll need to order a larger size and have it cut down. This ensures your crowd control rope fits perfectly, maintaining both functionality and aesthetic appeal for your setup.
